Strasbourg’s importance as a capital of the European Union tends to overshadow the charm of this ancient, moated city. Distinctive half-timbered buildings, covered bridges and medieval watch towers make it one of the most picturesque in Europe. You can enjoy it simply strolling around or aboard a sightseeing barge that plies the encircling waterways. One of these, the river L’Ile, winds its way south past the Château de l’Ile.
The 19th century château stands in ten acres of mature gardens and wooded parkland bounded by a long loop in the river. Its location and its excellent facilities give it the status of a luxury resort. The attractive indoor fitness area has a pool, sauna, Turkish bath and solarium as well as a place to work out. And there is a fitness course if you need help with your resolve!
You can choose between traditional French cuisine or vintage recipes from Alsace. A choice made more difficult by an excellent wine list.
